El próximo jueves veremos un clásico de cine americano dirigido por Jack Arnold, un director estadounidense que se especializó en el género de terror y ciencia ficción en los años 50. La puesta en escena que hace Jack Arnold de la historia es fascinante, logrando en tan sólo 80 minutos que pasemos del desconcierto al misterio, o del miedo a la filosofía. La escenografía y los efectos especiales siguen siendo convincentes ya que se apoyan en un buen guion, basado en la novela de igual título escrita por Richard Matheson, que acaba con una exposición brillante acerca de la teoría de la relatividad: somos grandes o pequeños en función de con qué nos comparemos.
El increíble hombre menguante, cuyo título original es The incredible shrinking man, está en la historia del cine por méritos propios y no hay filmoteca o cine-fórum que se precie de serlo que no cuente con este título, inolvidable tras su primer visionado, ya que, aparte de contar con ingeniosos efectos visuales, supone una excelente reflexión acerca del sentido de la existencia humana.

Next Thursday we will see a classic of American films directed by Jack Arnold, an American director who specialized in the horror and science fiction genre of the 50s. The staging makes Jack Arnold story fascinating, achieving in just 80 minutes a puzzling mystery, fear and philosophy. The scenery and special effects are still convincing as they rely on a good script, based on the novel by the same title written by Richard Matheson, that finalizes with a brilliant exhibition about the theory of relativity: we are big or small depending on how we compare.
The incredible shrinking man is in the history of the film on its own achievements, there is no cinema or film-clim that does not have this title, unforgettable after the first viewing, since, apart from having inventive Visual effects, it implies a great reflection on the meaning of human existence.
